Partly-printed DS, signed with his ‘umbrella’ signature, “Thos. A. Edison,” one page, 8.75 x 4, September 15, 1921. Promissory note issued by the Edison Storage Battery Company promising to pay $10,151.66, to the Joseph Stokes Rubber Company. Signed at the conclusion by Edison as chairman of the board, and countersigned by his vice president. In very good condition, with several vertical folds, cancellation holes to lower right, lightly affecting first name of signature, a couple pencil notes and cancellations, several stamps and a bit of scattered light soiling. Edison’s recognizable signature is mostly unaffected by the flaws.
