Frederick Beck Patterson (1892-1971) was president of the National Aeronautical Association from 1923 to 1924, and is remembered for spearheading the fundraising campaign to purchase the land that became Wright-Patterson Airforce Base. He was also president of the National Cash Register Company, one of America's largest and most innovative manufacturers of the era: in addition to producing millions of cash registers, the firm built aircraft instrumentation, code-breaking machines, and other military apparatus.
