<B>Thomas A. Edison Typed Letter Signed</B></I> "<I>Thomas A. Edison.</B></I>" One page, 8" x 10.5", Orange, New Jersey, April 16, 1906. This letter was written to Edward E. Higgins in New York, it reads in part, "On my return from the South I find the invitation of The Periodical Publisher's Association of America to attend their Annual Dinner on May 4th at Atlantic City, N.J. I regret very much, however, to advise you that I shall be unable to be with you at that time…" Thomas Edison is considered one of the greatest inventors in American history. He is best known for inventing the incandescent illuminating bulb and the phonograph. Edison patented well over 1000 inventions during his life, his work has been improved upon and built on for years, resulting in some of the modern conveniences we all take for granted. <BR><BR>The letter is in very fine condition; usual folds are present; slight soiling along fold lines. The letter is matted with fillets alongside a handsome photograph of Edison seated at his desk reading over some paperwork. The picture beautifully depicts the "Wizard of Menlo Park" at his work. Also matted alongside these items is a small plaque bearing the dates of Edison's birth and death and a short summary of his life. The entire piece measures 29" x 24".
