Three autographs by leading figures in the Thirty Years' War, fought within the Holy Roman Empire from 1618 to 1648 and considered to be one of the most destructive wars in European history. Includes: a clipped signature of Johann Tserclaes, Count of Tilly, the accomplished field marshal who commanded the Catholic League's forces in the conflict, affixed to a larger sheet above an impression of his paper seal; a document signed by German prince and general Bernard of Saxe-Weimar; and an autograph letter signed by Austrian nobleman Sigmund Adam Herr von Traun. In very good to fine condition, with overall toning to the Tilly signature, circular seal removed from the Bernard document, and partial separations to the address leaf of the Traun letter; old catalog captions are affixed to the Tilly and Traun pieces.
