<B>Third Model Colt Dragoon</B></I> .44 caliber, six shot cylinder, serial number 14365. The Colt Dragoon was produced as an improvement in both weight and size over the Colt Walker. In all, three major variations of Dragoon were produced with the major identifying feature of the Third Model as the round trigger guard. This particular pistol has the typical 7.5 inch barrel marked, "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY" on the top. Serial numbers are visible on top of the loading lever, on the cylinder, on the grip strap by the toe, in front of the trigger guard, on the frame and on the barrel lug. Also, "COLTS / PATENT" appears on the left side of the frame. Mechanically very good, most of the metal exhibits a mottled plum patina with the cylinder being gray. The brass frame is aging a brownish yellow and exhibits some marks on the grip strap, possibly from use as a hammer.
