Thessaly, Larissa. Circa 340 B.C.<p> AR drachm. Head of the nymph Larissa three-quarters facing to left/Horse grazing right. 6.17 g. Dewing 1396, SNG Cop 122. AU55 ICG, of lovely style with a few flan flaws on obverse. This important town in Thessaly issued some of the loveliest of all Greek coins. Facing, or three-quarters facing heads are the most difficult of all coin types to engrave in the hardened-iron dies used to create these miniature pieces of art we all admire so much. From the Collection of Dr. Joseph M.
