Pinback button and ribbon honoring President Theodore Roosevelt's visit to West Point in 1902, featuring a 1 1/2? portrait button at center, with a Cuban flag ribbon on one side and black, yellow, and silver ribbons on the other, the yellow ribbon reading: "Welcome West Point, June 9, 10, 11, 1902." In very good to fine condition, with some fraying to the ribbons. The United States Military Academy at West Point celebrated its hundred-year anniversary in 1902, and President Theodore Roosevelt attended the festivities, delivering the centennial speech on June 11th. In a moving tribute, President Roosevelt recognized the academy's contribution to the United States: 'This institution has completed its first hundred years of life. During that century no other education institution in the land has contributed so many names as West Point has contributed to the honor roll of the nation’s greatest citizens.'
