Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 16 x 19.75, September 12, 1905. President Roosevelt appoints Frank H. Schofield as “a Lieutenant-Commander in the Navy.” Beautifully signed at the conclusion by President Roosevelt and countersigned by Acting Secretary of the Navy Charles H. Darling. The crisply embossed blue Navy Department seal remains fully intact. In fine condition, with toning to edges. The recipient of this appointment, Frank Herman Schofield, served with distinction in the Spanish-American War and World War I, eventually rising to four-star admiral—the highest standard rank in the US Navy.
