TLS as president, one page, 6.5 x 7.5, White House letterhead, April 2, 1907. Roosevelt writes Robert Erskine Ely of the National Arbitration and Peace Congress. In full: “I have your letter of the 30th ultimo. I fear it will be impossible for me to come on to speak, as I had hoped. My work continues heavy here. I shall write, however, at some length. It was a very real pleasure to see your body the other day and talk with you.” In very good condition, with mild toning, few scattered light creases, mild soiling (heavier at the right side) and haloing to the start of Roosevelt’s name. Double-matted with a Pach Bros. portrait to an overall size of 19 x 14. Bold TR signature with a rather awkwardly phrased closing sentence by the chief executive.
