<B>Theodore Roosevelt Typed Letter Signed with a Holographic Postscript,</B></I> one page, 8" x 11", Buffalo, New York, September 7, 1901, to Miss E.E. McCoy, Elsinore, California. Writing as Vice-President, Roosevelt states in type, "<I>I am in receipt of your favor of the 27th ultimo. I hardly think that as you study history yourself you will find it possible to answer any such question as you put-certainly not if you study history deeply.</B></I>" As an after-thought, he adds in manuscript, "<I>A student of history does not have 'favorite' characters; many different men arouse admiration or attract attention for many different traits.</B></I>" Brown toning with an area of acid transfer from an old catalog description accompanying the letter.
