Theodore Roosevelt Typed Letter Signed as President of the Board of New York Police Commissioners "Theodore Roosevelt". One page, 7.75" x 10.5", on New York Police Department letterhead, New York, July 10, 1896, to W. P. Young. The letter reads in full: "My dear Mr. Young:-/ I am indebted to you much for your letter. I will let you know as soon as I have investigated the matter. I hope you will inform me of anything else which yo sic think should be called to my attention." Before becoming president Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) served in a number of public offices. Notably his service as head commissioner of the New York police department brought about many positive reforms to a department rife with corruption and cronyism. This letter is uniformly age toned with some small stains that don't affect the text or signature. Additionally there are the usual fold creases, else it is in very good condition.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
