Superb vintage matte-finish 9 x 13 photo of Joseph DeCamp's painting of President Roosevelt accomplished in 1908, affixed to its original 13.75 x 18.75 mount, boldly signed on the mount in ink, "Theodore Roosevelt." In very good condition, with areas of irregular toning, dampstaining along the bottom edge, and scattered scuffing to the image and mount (heaviest to the upper right corner). Accompanied by a printed letter from John Woodbury, secretary of the Harvard College Class of 1880, dated April 20, 1909, in part: I send you herewith a photograph of the portrait of President Roosevelt, painted by Joseph De Camp at the White House last winter, which now hangs in the Harvard Union at Cambridge. It is the gift of the Class, in accordance with the intention expressed at our Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of GraduationAt my request, although busy with preparations for his trip to Africa, our distinguished classmate was good enough to add his autograph to the photographs. The letter is affixed to the paper backing of a frame; frame no longer present.
