Theodore Blume German Silvered Oil Lamp. Th. Blume was a goldsmith in Hildesheim, Germany beginning in the mid 19th century, he was famous for his jewelry in both silver and gold but he also produced a line of silver products called the Hildesheim Silver Fund which replicated Roman silver plate of the 1st century. Stamped on the bottom "Nachbildung des Hildesheimer Silberfundes (replica of the Hildesheim Silver Fund)" and "Th. Blume - Goldschmeid (Goldsmith) - Hildesheim. The Aladdin style oil lamp has a small threaded cover taking the form of a young Roman boy portraying Hercules strangling a serpent in each hand; the small handle above resembles an olive branch. The small lamp is set on a 3 legged stand with thin wavy legs ending at paw feet. In excellent condition with very minor rubbing to the plate on the small lid. 4.5"W x 9.5"H.
