Austrian-born psychoanalyst (1888–1969) who studied with Freud and became best known for his research into the psychiatric aspects of masochism, criminology, literature, and religion. ALS, one page, 5 x 8, Lake Mohonk Mountain House letterhead, July 16, 1962. Letter to Mr. Lichter in response to an “interesting question,” in part: “I consider active affiliation with an organized religion to be a negative factor in the development of a mature individual intellect.” In fine condition, with intersecting mailing folds, one through a single letter of signature, and some scattered trivial creasing.
