Theodor Herzl ALS
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Zionist Leader Theodor Herzl writes to a friend from Hamburg, dated 24 October 1890. Letter discusses the play ''Die Dame in Schwarz'' which was being performed at the Burgtheater, the former imperial court theater and one of the most important theaters in Europe. Letter reads: ''Dearest friend! Your letter has been forwarded to me here where I took refuge one day ahead of the annoying matter of the scheduled rehearsals. My plans are to return tomorrow morning. So far, Hasemann did not contact me and I purposely did not call on him either before receiving your message. Now I shall definitely approach him to bring the matter to a conclusion, if possible. I do think that he is the most suitable individual for that. I intend to work on the 'couplets' during my trip home. At the moment, there are too many other issues mulling around in my head. Do write to me to my Berlin address '4 Jahreszeiten' where I will be residing again tomorrow. Eight days from today I expect to be in Vienna. Cordial greetings from your devoted, Herzle''. Letter, measuring 8.75'' x 5.5'', has toning throughout, else very good condition.
