American actress (1905–1935) best remembered for her appearances in such comedy classics as Monkey Business, Horse Feathers, and Another Fine Mess. Though her death from carbon monoxide poisoning was ruled an accident, suspicious circumstances led to a number of theories of varying plausibility, including speculation that she was the victim of a ‘hit’ ordered by gangster ‘Lucky’ Luciano. Lovely thick glossy 13.25 x 10.5 photo of the blonde actress, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Bettye, With kindest regards and sincere wishes. Thelma Todd.” Scattered creasing largely confined to the edges, a small pinhole at each corner, scratches to the emulsion passing through name, silvering to some of the darker areas, and slightly trimmed, otherwise fine condition.
