Oil on paper, attributed to Jean Degottex, approx. 16x13 in. Jean Degottex Who died in Paris Is an abstract French painter, known notably for his initial proximity to the movement of the Lyric Abstraction of the fifties and sixties. In his own words, his work has gradually shifted from gesture and sign, to writing, and from handwriting to line. Considered a major artist of the abstraction of the second half of the twentieth century, it is inspired by Far Eastern calligraphy and Zen philosophy to end the erasure of the creative subject.

Absentee and online bids are accepted. All major credit cards are accepted. Bank wires and cashier’s checks are accepted. For credit card payments, buyer is required to sign Payment Authorization Form that will be provided via email. Merchandise will not be released until payment is cleared, and Authorization form has been completed and returned. All sales exceeding $5000 must be paid by bank wire. Payment is expected within 1-2 business days concluding auction. Any item that has not been paid for is forfeited by the buyer and the item may be put back on the auction block for sale. Any buyer that does not make payment will automatically be blocked from future Auction House auctions and will be filed with a collection agency and the credit bureau.
