The Woman Alone (Gaumont British, 1937). Lobby Card (11" X 14"). Alfred Hitchcock's follow-up to "Secret Agent" was, ironically, an adaptation of Joseph Conrad's classic "The Secret Agent," renamed "Sabotage" -- not to be confused with Hitchcock's own "Saboteur" that would play in theaters five years later. Even though the politics of the gang of saboteurs, and of the film itself, are vague, American distributor United Artists might have wanted to avoid political connotations in isolationist America. The studio retitled the film "The Woman Alone" (perhaps an appeal to the female audience) for its initial U.S. release and, later, the more exploitative (and thus marketable) "I Married a Murderer" for its reissue. This card, from the original U.S. release, has employed a snipe of the reissue title over its original "The Woman Alone" title. It has a few scuffs and abrasions in the borders, but otherwise looks terrific. Very Fine-.
