The Wolf Man (Universal, 1941). Title Lobby Card
The Wolf Man (Universal, 1941). Title Lobby Card (11" X 14"). By the early 1940s, Universal had two well established monster franchises with Frankenstein and Dracula. They had just released the second Mummy film, "The Mummy's Hand," as well as a second Invisible Man film. In looking for another monster series, they looked back to their release of 1935: "The Werewolf of London." Screenwriter Curt Siodmak was charged with developing a new script with a werewolf concept and the result was "The Wolf Man." The film went on to spawn four more films with Lon Chaney, Jr. as the Wolf Man. Last year we sold a copy of this title card for $9,775. The title cards for these Universal films are becoming increasingly hard to find. This card has been paperbacked with restoration to the lower right corner, where it appears the corner had been broken and then fixed. The corner was broken just into the dark blue background of the art. The upper left and right corners have had just minor repairs of a pinhole in each corner and slight chipping. There is a tear in the left side of the card, which extends into the first two letters of the name "Ralph." There was a small 1/2" tear in the lower border just below Ankers head which does not extend into the image. The colors on this card are just great. The card's appearance is excellent and the restoration work done was top-notch. We believe almost any collector would be very pleased with the appearance of this gorgeous card. Fine+ on Paper.
