John Entwistle’s personally-owned and -used vintage 1957 right-handed Gretsch Duo Jet silver sparkle electric guitar, with original Melita Synchro-sonic bridge, a chrome “G” cutout tailpiece, and engraved on the backplate, “13011.” Includes its original vintage Gretsch guitar case. In fine condition. Oversized. One of the earliest solid-body electric guitars designed by Gretsch, this instrument presents one of the three highly attractive colors that made these eye-catching Duo Jet guitars so desirable to musicians. Deriving from the personal collection of the Who’s bass-playing wizard—as originally sold by Sotheby’s and pictured in the book ‘Bass Culture’—this stunner of a guitar, rare and sought-after in its own right, would make an ideal showpiece in any serious collection.
