<B>The Vinta Exemplar: A Handwritten Collection of Twelve Bifolia Leaves and One Single Leaf Mentioning Belisario Vinta, Friend to the Medici Family,</B></I> each leaf measures approximately 8" x 5.25". A stitched gathering of swan-watermarked paper with recto writing and lettering in brown ink, this collection represents one of the only known teaching exemplars of chancery cursive in the hand of an Italian handwriting master. The leaves have been written in corsiva graziosa, the calligraphic basis of the Italian Hand script, the most advanced of all Western handwriting. The handwriting on the various leaves includes a dedication to Belisario Vinta, a message congratulating a prince of the Church, several address of Italian noblemen, an example of velocissima script, a letter of condolence upon the death of an Italian named Francesco Grimaldo, and four leaves of the alphabet. The leaves are accompanied by a folder of research about the writing contained herein, and is a fascinating read for those interested in the history of the written word.
