The True Companion Double Shot Percussion Knuckleduster Pistol

Manufactured by an unknown party, the True Companion shows a number of design similarities to the European "Apache Pistol", having a hinged grip arrangement with a set of finger holes; when opened, the True Companion is a two-shot swivel barrel percussion pistol, and when folded it becomes a set of brass knuckles. The only markings on the pistol are "THE TRUE COMPANION" on top of the cast brass frame and "204" on the rip, with blue finished barrel and other components. The barrel group rests flush with the sides of the frame, with the mainspring installed on the right side of the frame for a total width of less than 3/4 of an inch and a weight of 13.8 ounces (.865 pounds). An additional variation from the Apache design is the fixed spur trigger, which permits the firing of the weapon when folded.

Very good. Half of the period refinished blue is present on the barrel and components, with a bright gray patina on the hinge hardware, mixed brown and gray on the barrel with bright high edges, and mild handling marks overall. The brass shows a well aged patina with a few scattered dings. A small amount of play is detectable in the grip, with the locking hardware in full working order both open and closed. Mechanically excellent.
