Featured in this lot is this The Tombstone Epitaph: Oct. 26, 1881 "Tombstone Famous Day"; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. The newspaper is Unique and Rare being the issue distributed on the day of the shootout at the O.K. Corral (according to research and The Tombstone Epitaph website a special issue was printed latter that day with word of the shooting). This issue would have been read by all the citizens of Tombstone the morning of the 26th prior to the 3pm shootout. This is the only paper known to exist from the morning of Oct. 26, 1881 with the Gunfight Special printed later in the day with testimonial and eyewitness accounts. This printing was delivered before the gunfight happened at the O.K. Corral and is unique for being framed with reclaimed wood from Wyatt Earp's house that was at this Happy Days mine camp. The condition of this The Tombstone Epitaph newspaper is well preserved with some tears to the paper and browning to the pages consistent with the age of the paper but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this framed newspaper is 29 7/8" x 41" and the visible newspaper measures 24 3/4" x 36". The collective weight of this framed newspaper is 13lb 14oz.
