"The Texan", by Norman Rockwell (1874-1978) 24 x 19.5 print on paper, signed “Norman Rockwell 195/200”. This humorous work by the great Norman Rockwell appeared as the cover of the Saturday Evening Post on May 24, 1930. It depicts the young motion picture star Gary Cooper having lipstick applied by the makeup artist in preparation for the shooting of a scene in the 1930 classic, "The Texan", in which Cooper starred as The Llano kid. This is one of the original 200 lithographs from 1930, signed by Rockwell. Very rare and seldom available. New, museum-standard frame. The original painting from which the print was made sold to Steven Spielberg on November 28, 2007 at Sotheby’s in New York for $5,921,000.
