Original deluxe 2-record set soundtrack for The Ten Commandments, composed and conducted by Elmer Bernstein and released by Paramount Records under catalog number PAS-1006. The front cover features a dramatic image of Charlton Heston as Moses with arms raised against a stormy sky, while the back presents a still from the film's epic crowd scene alongside a track listing and cast credits. The records are labeled with the cream Paramount label and the etched matrix in the dead wax reads PA-2-1006-A, confirming its pressing from the original issue series. This double album features Bernstein's full orchestral score for Cecil B. DeMille's 1956 biblical epic, with compositions that underscore the film's grandeur and emotional scale. Side One includes "Prelude, In the Bulrushes, The Bitter Life, and Love and Ambition." Side Two continues with "The Hard Bondage, Zephora's Dance, The Crucible of God, And Moses Watered Jethro's Flock, Bedouin Dance, and I Am That I Am." Side Three contains "Overture, Thus Says the Lord, The Plagues, and The Exodus, while Side Four concludes with The Pillar of Fire, The Red Sea, The Ten Commandments, and Go, Proclaim Liberty!" Elmer Bernstein (1922-2004) was one of Hollywood's most prolific and celebrated film composers, with a career spanning over five decades. His work on The Ten Commandments remains one of his most powerful achievements, capturing the film's religious themes and emotional depth with sweeping orchestration and haunting motifs. The film itself, directed by DeMille and starring Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner, Anne Baxter, and Edward G. Robinson, is widely regarded as one of the greatest epic films ever made.
