The Ten Commandments (1956) Ceremonial Collar Movie Props
The Ten Commandments (1956) Ceremonial Collar Costume - When Cecil B. DeMille directed the silent version of "The Ten Commandments" in 1923, he shot the entire production in and around Southern California, including the infamous massive sets that he built at the Guadalupe Sand Dunes in Santa Barbara, California. So beloved was this classic, that actual archaeologists to this day continue to do "digs" at these dunes to uncover the sets as one would the actual pyramids in Egypt. When DeMille remade "The Ten Commandments" into one of the all time classics in 1956, he actually went to Egypt to create the epic sets and spectacular sequences. He also insisted that most of the costumes this time be made by actual decedents of the original participants of the story in Egypt. Most of these artisans came from Cairo, especially at one shop called El Magri. This is an original ceremonial collar worn by one of the background actors from this grand film. It includes the original El Magri label, and has the actor's name imprinted as well: "H. Ramadan", The collar costume is cloth with gold stripping and is approx 14" in diameter.
