The Sign of the Cross (Paramount, 1932). Lobby Card (11" X 14"). In Cecil B. DeMille's Roman epic, Claudette Colbert plays the sinful and sexual Poppeae to Charles Laughton's hedonistic Nero. Nero blames the Christians for the burning of Rome, and condemns them to death in the arena. Fredric March (Marcus Superbus), is the prefect of Rome, and is caught between his love for a Christian woman (Elissa Landi) and a lustful relationship with Claudette Colbert. This pre-Code film has some of the most sexual and violent scenes of its day. This very rare scene card has minor corner folds. On the top border are some small spots and a small abrasion. Excellent paper from early Hollywood. Near Mint-.
