<B><I>The Shipbuilder: "Olympic" and "Titanic"</B></I></B></I> <B>with Signed Sheet by Five <I>Titanic</B></I></B></I> <B>Officers Mounted In</B></I> (Shipbuilder Press, 1911), first edition, 130 pages, rebound in marbled paper boards shelf backed in green cloth with gilt titles, 8vo (7.5" x 9.75"). A signed sheet has been mounted in with mounting corners on the front free endpaper. The sheet is titled "R. M. S Titanic April 2, 1912 Autographs of Captain & Officers" and signed "<I>Edward J Smith</B></I>", "<I>H. J. Pitman</B></I>", "<I>C. H. Lightholler</B></I>", "<I>H. G. Lowe</B></I>" and "<I>J. Groves Boxhall</B></I>". Smith was the captain of the <I>Titanic,</B></I> perishing in its sinking when he refused to abandon the ship. Herbert John Pitman was the Third Officer of the <I>Titanic.</B></I> Charles Herbert Lightholler was the most senior member of the <I>Titanic</B></I> to survive. He was later awarded the Distinguished Service Cross in 1916 for his service in World War I. Harold Godfrey Lowe was the Fifth Officer, in charge of Lifeboat 14 after the <I>Titanic</B></I> hit an iceberg and sank in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Lowe's lifeboat was the only one to return to the site of the wreckage to search for survivors. Joseph Groves Boxhall was the Fourth Officer, and later served as a naval officer in World War I. All five men have signed boldly on the sheet inside this book, which includes a fold-out map of the original schematics of the ship. The book is in fine condition. The signed sheet is in near fine condition, with some toning to the page.
