Important and historical mementos of the Wild West. 14” x 11” and 2” thick leather book giving us a look into the life of Jordan Cottle and his connection with the famous Wild West. The inside of the front cover contains an original inscription by Cody himself, “Ladies and Gentleman permit me introduce a Congress of the Rough Rides of the World – W.F. Cody “Buffalo Bill” to J.B. Cottle, Chicago, Ill. July 10th 1909”. That is just the start to this fabulous chronicle of the friendship between Cottle and Cody. Photographs of Cody, Salsbury, Annie Oakley, Johnny Baker, The Wild Bunch, The Mexicans, too many to list. The business cards of the major players in the show, Vicente P. Oropeza, Jim and Kid Gabreil, Ameen Abouhamad (The Bedouin Sampson), P. Esquivel, Vill Merrill and others. Letters, route cards, clippings, and signatures. There are several laid-in full show programs and couriers. Season passes signed by Cody, signed dinner menus including the one from the 1913 Showmans League, stationery, etc. Photos of Cottle with the 101 Ranch, signed calling card of Joseph Miller, President of the Wild West and 101, several great photos of Lulu Parr and other cowgirls. The 1887 passenger list for the steamship Nebraska carrying Buffalo Bill’s Wild West to Europe. Many surprising materials laid-in by Jordan. This lot includes a huge 12” x 17” image mounted on photo board (16” x 22”) of the 1913 meeting of the Showmans League of America showing the guest of honor, Cody, and Cottle at the head table. This photo relates to the menu and invitation inside the scrapbook. There are 86 pages overall including the inside of the covers.
