Stetson established Stetson Hats in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1865. The late 19th and early 20th centuries saw a rise in popularity for Stetson hats as they came to symbolize the tough and risk-taking nature of the American West. Stetson hats were worn by cowboys, ranchers, law enforcement officers, and outlaws alike, solidifying the company's status as a representation of Western culture. Stetson grew his company in 1869 and relocated it to St. Joseph, Missouri, where it kept expanding. Stetson Company / Martin's Western Store Hardin, Montana". The hat measures an inside circumference of approximately 20 3/4", a width of 14 3/8" and a height of 4 7/8". The hat shows good condition overall with the right side of the brim showing some curving, but no obvious signs of damage are present.
