Oil on paper, attributed to Fausto Melotti, approx. 14x13 in. Working in an array of materials, including wood, wire, plaster, and ceramics, Fausto Melotti is known for creating curious Surrealist sculptures in which symbolic forms express what has been described as the “inner realms of human experience.” Melotti’s artistic career spanned the mid-20th century, and he is thought to have been influenced by fellow Italians Georgio de Chirico and Lucio Fontana, the latter a contemporary of Melotti’s at the Academia de Belle Arti di Brera in Milan. Melotti’s wire mobiles and “cages” have been compared, respectively, to the work of Alexander Calder and Alberto Giacometti.

Absentee and online bids are accepted. All major credit cards are accepted. Bank wires and cashier’s checks are accepted. For credit card payments, buyer is required to sign Payment Authorization Form that will be provided via email. Merchandise will not be released until payment is cleared, and Authorization form has been completed and returned. All sales exceeding $5000 must be paid by bank wire. Payment is expected within 1-2 business days concluding auction. Any item that has not been paid for is forfeited by the buyer and the item may be put back on the auction block for sale. Any buyer that does not make payment will automatically be blocked from future Auction House auctions and will be filed with a collection agency and the credit bureau.
