This is an original screen-used VX gas rocket prop featured in Michael Bay’s explosive 1996 action-thriller The Rock, starring Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery. Towering at approximately 7 feet 8 inches tall, this formidable piece was custom-built by the production and used on-screen during key moments set inside the missile chamber on Alcatraz Island.
Crafted from a combination of metal and resin components, the rocket features realistic detailing throughout, complete with aluminum tail fins, mock access panels, Cyrillic warning text, and an exposed internal cavity lined with colorful wiring and a radiation hazard symbol. The open side section was designed for close-up shots to showcase the interior workings of the VX payload delivery system. Its painted surface, in military-style matte grey and black, includes stenciled serial numbers, caution zones, and component labels that add to the illusion of dangerous authenticity.
This specific rocket is visible during several wide and mid-range shots in the film’s final act, as Nicolas Cage’s character races to prevent the missiles from launching. With its menacing profile, it serves as a dramatic reminder of the high-stakes tension that defines the film’s unforgettable climax.
A visually stunning artifact from one of the 1990s’ most iconic action thrillers—perfect for display in any serious film memorabilia collection. **The rocket was also featured in the original TV series NCIS. Some of the lettering was added for that production but can be easily removed if the buyer wishes to display the rocket as it appeared in The Rock.**
