Enormous gingerbread man suit, made by Hollywood costumer Tuck John Porter, as seen in the conclusion of the original cut of the Substitute music video, in which the crazed ‘substitute,’ dressed as a gingerbread man battles the ATF with a pair of ‘Dirty Harry style’ .44 magnums. The ATF fires back, engulfing the gingerbread man with a flamethrower. Though the initial cut of the video was loved by Joey and Johnny Ramone, MTV was upset with the ending to the video, comparing it to a bad parody of the Waco raid, and refusing to air it again until it was modified. Because of that, there now exists two different versions of the video, both of which include the this gingerbread suit. Though the gingerbread man was blown up in the original cut, that was a mere miniature—the here-offered item is the one and only original suit. In the video, the suit was worn by veteran character actor, Nicolas Worth, star of one of Johnny Ramone's favorite movies, Don't Answer the Phone! The gingerbread man’s shoes and tie (also included) complete the ensemble. General wear from use and storage, otherwise fine condition. All Ramones band members were present on set when this prop was used. Provenance: Tom Rainone.
