Sire Records double-sided 12? vinyl test pressing of The Ramones’ 1977 Rocket to Russia album. White Warner Bros. Record labels on both sides of the disc are blank, and the original paper sleeve is notated “Ramones, SR 60 42.” An 8.5 x 11 “Label Copy” sheet affixed to the record sleeve, dated October 3, 1977, bears track listings, running times, and copyright information. This test pressing predates the official album release date of November 4, 1977, by over a month. In fine condition. Test pressings are the first vinyl discs made at the factory and are produced in small numbers in order to evaluate disc and sound quality prior to mass production. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Chris Lamy, close friend of The Ramones and guitarist of The Jabbers, formerly GG Allin & The Jabbers. The Chris Lamy Collection.
