The Queen of Belgium Appealed to the Red Cross... 21" x 14" Artist: signed with the initials A.T.F. Printed for the U.S. Red Cross. This is a small poster meant to be "Hung in a conspicuous place." It let Americans know that the Queen of Belgium had appealed to the Red Cross to help the little children of Belgium. The poster shows a Red Cross nurse standing next to two little Belgium children. The Queen of Belgium was very concerned about the children's welfare and asked for money, aid, food, and a hospital near the front. The Red Cross gave her all these things, America gave her all these things. The Belgian Queen at this time was Queen Elizabeth, wife of King Albert who is also mentioned in several posters in this collection. The Belgian royalty was very active during WWI and received much of the aid generated by the United States and the Red Cross. A wonderful poster which features cute little children. A must have! Condition-Fine; several deep creases running horizontally, dirt stains and residue on lower edge.
