Thirty octavo volumes. <BR><BR>Brown cloth with gilt spine titles and decoration on front covers. Volumes 1-22 include a former owner's book plates, some of which have become detached, leaving adhesive residue inside the front covers. Overall near fine to fine.<BR><BR>A collaboration between Yale University and the American Philosophical Society, <I>The Papers of Benjamin Franklin</B></I> project was established in 1954. Volumes 1-22 cover the years 1706-1776, including Franklin's early life, years in Philadelphia, and trips to England. Volumes 23-38 cover 1776-1783, including his years in France.
