Two metal printing plates used to create promotional materials for Howard Hughes' controversial film ''The Outlaw.'' The weighty, bronzed lithography plates are engraved in detail, including with pictures of Jane Russell. The 1943 movie caused a sensation when its release was initially banned because of the overexposure of Russell's bosom. Once released, Hughes' ''Billy the Kid'' film was a box office smash. One plate measures 4'' x 13.25'' and the other 6'' x 5''. Minimal wear on both and a stain on the larger plate, else near fine.
