Featured in this lot we have a First Edition of "The Old North Trail" by Walter McClintock, 1910, Macmillan and Co., Limited, London publisher. "The Old North Trail or Life, Legends and Religion of the Blackfeet Indians" details the first person experiences and adventures of the author among the Blackfeet tribe. The book contains numerous colored illustrations and black and white photos. McClintock went to northwestern Montana as a member of a U.S. Forest Service expedition. He spent the next four years living on the Blackfoot Reservation as the adopted son of Chief Mad Dog, the high priest of the Sun Dance. Fold-out map, "The Country of the Blackfeet Indians" attached on page 533. Original blue cloth bound gold gilt stamped illustrated hardcover is in nice condition, gold gilt is still bright. Front cover stamped illustration is the same as frontispiece. Very slight scuffing noted. Intact pages feature gold gilt top edge, age tanning and foxing observed. Measures 5.5"W x 8.75"L x 1.5"D, weight 2lb, 10oz.
