<B>The Mysterious Island (MGM, 1929).</B></I> French Grande (47" X 63"). Very little is retained of Jules Verne's original story though he is mentioned in the credits and is credited on this poster. The story centers around a sea captain (Lionel Barrymore) who like Verne's Nemo, develops a submarine that can visit the ocean's floor. There is discovered a strange land populated by dragons, giant squid and an eerie undiscovered humanoid race. This beautiful and early French Grande pictures Lionel Barrymore surrounded by creatures from the deep. The poster has some minimal fold wear which has beautifully restored on linen.
