The Most Exalted Order of the Star of India, Companion’s Neck Badge (C.S.I.), gold, silver, and enamel, with a fine quality central onyx cameo of a youthful Queen Victoria wearing an Imperial, the motto Heavens Light Our Guide illuminated with diamonds, surmounted by a five pointed star (MYB 7). Extremely Fine, Extremely Rare. Founded by Queen Victoria a few years after the British crown took over the administration of India from the East India Company, it was intended primarily as an award to Loyal Indian Princes. The Highest class was designated the Knight Grand Commander, rather than Knight Grand Cross because the majority of the recipients were not Christians instead they were either Hindus or Muslims.
