The Man who lost the 1912 World Series. Unusu
The Man who lost the 1912 World Series. Unusual original group photograph of a Canadian baseball team, with two inscriptions on verso in hand of coach Fred Snodgrass, outfielder and first baseman for Giants and Braves, who lost the 1912 Series for Giants by dropping a fly ball. 5 x 7. In Snodgrass' hand in pencil: "F.C.S. training Edmonton team for Gus Gleichman." Below, in his hand in blue marker, probably penned in late 1960s-early 1970s: "...trained at Crockett Calif. by F.C. Snodgrass. Gus in hospital. 2 great players in group, Babe Herman & H. Manush." Fifteen in all, wearing a variety of uniforms, including "New York." Snodgrass probably the man at left, in dark sweater. Two blue smudges at blank top corner of photo, light wear, else very good.
