The Maltese Falcon (Warner Brothers, 1941). Lobby Card (11" X 14"). Although Humphrey Bogart was a star in 1941, having come to the moviegoing world's attention with a standout performance in The Petrified Forest, it was this movie that made him a superstar and a true Hollywood immortal. Although Dashiell Hammett's novel had been filmed twice before - once under its familiar title in 1931, and once as Satan Met a Lady in 1936 - it was this version that became definitive, thanks to perfect casting and the sure hand of John Huston in the director's chair. It's one of Bogie's best, and one of the most difficult of his films from which to find paper. This stunning portrait card, picturing Bogart and co-star Mary Astor, has several staple holes in the top center, two of which have torn slightly, a small tear in the bottom center, and light staining on Astor's face. Additionally, there is a six inch crease in the lower left, and a half inch V-shaped tear in the left border. These are minor flaws, however, doing little to detract from the beautiful central image. Fine. *****

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
