The Lost Patrol (RKO, 1934) One Sheet (27 X 41 ). Phil The Lost Patrol (RKO, 1934)
The Lost Patrol (RKO, 1934) One Sheet (27" X 41"). Philip MacDonald's novel "Patrol" first found a home on the silver screen in 1929 in a British silent film. Cyril McLaglen played a sergeant in charge of a World War I-era British cavalry regiment; five years later, Cyril's older brother Victor played the same part for director John Ford's sound remake. McLaglen's regiment is stranded somewhere in the Mesopotamian desert, and Arabs begin to kill his men as they wait for reinforcements. Boris Karloff gets the most showy role as a religious zealot descending into madness, and his Christ-like send-off marks the film's most dramatic moment. Karloff also highlights this one sheet, a painted portrait of his face in the bottom quarter. The lower-right corner is missing paper, as well as the top two corners and a tear on the bottom edge have been repaired with tape. Several pinholes appear, and despite an attempt at tape-repair, the fold lines and cross-folds show slight separation. The art looks remarkably vivid and largely untouched. Fine-.
