<B>The Livingstons of Colonial New York Signed Documents.</B></I> A grouping of four documents, three signed by Philip Livingston (1686-1749), second Lord of Livingston Manor. He was the son of Robert Livingston the Elder and became the Secretary of Indian Affairs in New York. His sons include Philip Livingston, the signer of the Declaration, and William Livingston, first governor of New Jersey and signer of the Constitution. Still another Philip Livingston, this one Philip Peter Livingston, also known as "Gentleman Phil", a nephew of the Signer, signs the fourth document. The Livingston family owned 160,000 acres of land in what is now Columbia and Dutchess counties in New York.
