"A Life of Napoleon Bonaparte" by Ida Tarbell

Signed by the author, inscription notes December 25, 1903. This book came from the estate of John and Jean Siddall. John was the editor of The American Magazine in the mid to late 20's. Ida Tarbell, Lincoln Steffens, and Ray Stannard Baker had left McClure's magazine and created the American Magazine. When first created, it was a "muckraker" (todays term - investigative reporting) magazine. When John Siddall came aboard as the editor, he steered the magazine in a different direction - to cater to women. The sales more than doubled. Many, many noted writers contributed articles to this magazine. In this collection from the estate, there are many books by these authors that are signed, including 4 more by Ida Tarbell.
