Renowned family of archaeologists—Louis, Mary, and son Richard—who made great strides in establishing human evolutionary development in Africa. Five items: TLS signed “L. S. B. Leakey,” one page on a 6 x 12.5 blue air mail sheet, June 10, 1970. Louis Leakey writes to Cary Madden at the Museum of Palaeontology, in full: “I have your further letter of 28th May with amended details of casts you require, and I will deal with all these matters of casts you want when I get back to Nairobi—hopefully at the end of this month”; and four blue ballpoint ink signatures, three of Richard Leakey and one, “M. D. Leakey,” each on an individual white 5 x 3 card. In overall fine condition. Accompanied by two newspaper clippings, a letter from Richard Leakey’s personal assistant, and the original mailing envelope.
