The Ladykillers (Ealing, 1955). Australian Daybill (13" X 30"). "The Lavender Hill Mob," "The Man in the White Suit," "Kind Hearts and Coronets" and this funny crime story were just a few of the classic comedies that came out of small Ealing Studios in the '50s. Alec Guinness heads a crew of incompetent thieves planning to pull off a heist. The gang poses as musicians and rents a flat from landlady Katie Johnson. When she inadvertently leads the police back to the hideout, Guinness and the gang feel that they have to bump her off, with hilarious results. When Johnson was being considered for the role, the producers thought her to be too old and frail for the job, so they hired another younger actress...who promptly died before shooting could start! This Australian daybill has small edge tears, a small tear in the tagline, and a censor snipe attached, changing the rating. The poster features wonderful stone litho artwork of Johnson, with caricatures of Guinness, Peter Sellers, Herbert Lom, Cecil Parker and Danny Green. Very Fine+.
