Descriptions of Scenery, Climate, Wild Productions, Capabilities of Soil, and Commercial Resources; interspersed with Incidents of Travel, and Anecdotes Illustrative of the Character of the Traders and Red Men; to which are added Directions as to Routes, Outfit for the Pioneer, and Sketches of Desirable Localities for Present Settlement. Written by Max. Greene. With original Maps of the Territory. Published by Fowler and Wells, Publishers, New York, 1856. "This well written book contains a good account of the prairie and mountain region with many incidents in the author's own experiences from 1850 to 1855, as well as a history of the Santa Fe trade and descriptions of the Santa Fe Trail." The author, it has been suggested, was a tramp printer sent west by a Pennsylvania newspaper. The map illustrates the Kansas area. (7 3/8" x 4.75") 192 pp. Good condition.
