The Hun-His Mark-Blot it Out (Lot of 4) The Hun-His Mark-Blot it Out
The Hun-His Mark-Blot it Out (Lot of 4) 2-(42.5" x 27.5") and 2-(30" x 20"). Artist: J. Allen St. John. This poster was issued for the Second Liberty Loan. The Second Liberty Loan was called for on October 1st, 1917 and offered $3 billion in bonds at 4% interest. This was one of the more famous images of the Loan Posters, the bloody handprint of the Hun. While minimalist in appearance the bloody hand print carried heavy meaning. It depicted all the suffering and bloodshed going on in Europe. The art of saying everything with one image is extremely rare and special, do not miss this exercise in extremes!

Condition:
Poster 1-Superior; some minor dirt stains, ink transference from red to white.
Poster 2-Good; small/minor tears on top edge, cockling from severe fold memory, hard crease on x-axis at 0 degrees.
Poster 3-Good; cockling from severe fold memory, dirt stains and residue on bottom edge, pinholes, burst tear in center of image.
Poster 4-Good; cockling from severe fold memory, dirt stains on bottom edge, upper left corner torn and wrinkled badly.
