Hinton, R.J.; The Handbook to Arizona; 1878; Payot, Upham & Co., San francisco.431pp, plus 101pp appendix, plus 143pp advertisements. Red boards, gilt lettered front and spine. Minor wear, still tight. Inscription in purple pencil datelined Gold Hill, Nevada, May 30, 1882. This copy was a birthday gift from Uncle John Parrish to E. Poster Kenyon. The Kenyon family was associated with mining in Nevada, though we couldn't find an exact record of these names. This book was possibly published in response to Hodge, 1877. Hodge had been the first since Mowry to report on Arizona mines and mining camps, but the effort is not as thorough as one would hope for. Hinton hammers the mining districts and includes many wood block prints of the mining camps and mines. It is a major and important reference work of great necessity to any Arizona researcher.City: County: State: AZDate: 1878
